Introducing the Kittens

Hello Everybody,

Again, still getting used to this blogging thing.

I've decided I am going to start calling them 'segments'. And this 'segment' is going to be our new cats!

When Kelly and I moved to Alberta, we decide to get ourselves a couple of cats. I don't know her reasoning for it, but mine was simple. It is significantly easier to create companionship in cats, then going out and meeting new people! (JUST KIDDING) ... Cats are cute, that was the real reason!

So, we went cat hunting, and found the two most adorable kittens in the world. When we walked into the adoption center, we told ourselves 'we're just looking, we don't NEED cats right now.'

About two seconds later, Kelly put her finger on the glass divider where Ayla was caged. Ayla's back was to the glass, but as soon as she felt the vibration of Kelly's finger on the glass, she rolled her head, looked straight into Kelly's eyes, did that super adorable cat moew; as they do when they are waking, then reached out her tiny paw and placed it on the glass where Kelly's finger made initial contact. There was no question there... we were taking Ayla home.

Jake's story wasn't as mushy as Ayla's. Jake was in a pen with 3 other kittens. Jake was running around and biting all of their ears, and chasing the rest of them while they were trying to sleep! (He was my choice!)

So we walked out of the shelter with two brand new kittens/cats.

For the first week or so, the two of them were at each others throats. Jake was really curious about Ayla, but hesitant. Ayla was not willing to make a new friend. Every time Jake approached her, Ayla would HISS and raise her paw in the air as if she were going to take out Jake's eyes. -- Now the two of them are inseparable.

The two of them are so cute. Ayla is by far the cutest cat I've ever seen in my life (and I have seen a LOT of cats).

At night, when I sleep. Ayla will ONLY sleep on my pillow. In the 4 months that we've owned these cats, right from night one, Ayla has not missed a night of sleeping on my pillow. (Excluding the couple of nights when Kelly and I are out of town of course).

It doesn't matter what pillow I use. She will only sleep on the pillow that my head is on. If I roll over, she rolls over. If I switch pillows, she does the same. When I go to get up in the middle of the night, she will put her paw on top of my head, and try to hold me down. You can't imagine how cute she is!

Jake is awesome as well! He is MASSIVE. Our floor tiles in the apartment are 1'x1'. when he stretches out across them, he almost makes 4 feet from the tip of his nose, to the tip of his feet. -- and he's bloody heavy!

That is all I have to say about our cats right now. I'm sure I will have some new posts about them soon!

SEE YA!
